Hi,
Until recently I've been able to scan from my Laserjet Pro MFP M477 to a networked computer with no trouble at all ... about a year ago I used the HP AIO Remote app to setup the printer with the correct network path, userid and password. My last successful "scan to network" was on July 25. Now, when I tried to perform the same activity on August 9, "scan to network" no longer works. In the intervening time period, I've observed two changes to my system that might be relevant:
1. Windows 10 Pro update to v1703 build 1506.540
2. HP AIO Remote program is now "HP Smart"
First off, I want to mention that the "Test" function within the "Network Folder Setup" section of "Printer Home Page (EWS)" can't connect to the network path, either.
I suspect the culprit may be the recent Windows 10 update. In fact, after the update, I noticed that the networked computer was no longer appearing in the "Network" section of "File Explorer" on another networked computer, that is, until I turned-off and then turned back on all of my previous Network File and Folder Sharing settings. Even after doing all of this, the M477 is still unable to connect to the networked computer, even though I know the network path, userid and password are all correct.
Is anybody else out there having the same problem I am? Anybody have any suggestions as to why I'm suddenly having this problem? Anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,
I just solved this problem, based upon a post from an HP employee that I saw in another discussion topic. My problem was solved by manually setting the printer's DNS servers to Google's DNS servers, and not the DNS servers that were automatically assigned through DHCP.
Here's how to do the fix:
- From the HP Smart application, navigate to "Printer Home Page (EWS)" in the "Printer" menu.
- Go to the "Networking" tab, and then select "Network Identification" from the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- In the "DNS" section of the page, set the Primary (IPv4) address to 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary (IPv4) address to 8.8.4.4 (of course, this presumes your using IPv4 - I wouldn't know what to tell you for IPv6).
After making these changes, I was able to successfully test the "scan to network" settings. And I was able to successfully scan directly to my networked computer.
I have no clue as to why this stopped working when it did. I never had to set the printer's DNS manually before. My previous hunch was that Microsoft pushed down a Windows 10 update that caused it to stop working, but that no longer seems plausible. And I'm not aware that any changes were made to my router settings that might have affected this. Anyway, I'm just happy this is working again.
Hope this helps someone else out there.
