Hi,
I have recently bought a OfficeJet 8012 and the scan to computer option is disabled and I don't know how to enable this function?
When I select the Scan Icon on the actually printer it directs me to the software I have downloaded and then to select "Print, Scan & Fax" I cannot see this function on the software I have downloaded?
I have attached images, if someone could please assist that would be great.
Thanks.

Hi,
Scanning from the printer front panel is only supported on Windows PCs.
For macOS, use the HP Smart app to initiate a scan from your Mac.
For a network connected printer you may also select Scan > Email and follow the steps to configure the feature and scan directly to an email from your printer.

Hi Shlomi,
Thank you for the reply.
Regarding the printers front panel only working for Windows PC is that the same for the 8020? I ask because I used an 8020 yesterday and I was able to scan documents straight to a Mac laptop. Are you saying the 8012 is different from the 8020 and cannot scan from the printers front panel to any Mac computers?
Scan > Email option I cannot find that option anywhere? Is it possible to speak to someone directly. I am a complete novice in this area and Im just trying to work this out. Thanks.

Well, the HP Officejet Pro 8020 printer does not support scanning from the front panel to Mac computers too, the same software options provided for both models.
For a scan to Email, you are correct, I was sure the 8012 model has a color display too, which I was wrong, so scanning should only be possible from the Mac itself.
There are some workarounds available for printers with a Full-Color Display screen, not to any such printer with a Monochrome screed, I believe any of these is the difference you described for the 8020 model.
