I can scan to computer with HP Smart but can't do two sided scanning there. The familiar HP scan to computer app which I found somewhere and will do two sided (manual) is identified as USB which requires a cable. I'd like to do it wirelessly?

Disclaimer -- I might not understand your situation.
I am not aware that the Full Feature Software and HP Scan require a USB connection.
After it is installed, the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software tolerates and works with a USB (cabled) connection -- the USB connection is not necessary.

Installed full driver printer software adds at least two shortcuts to the Desktop:

Thank you Dragon-Fur. When setting up my new HP Envy 6458e All-In-One printer, I was directed to install the HP Smart App. The "Print" function works fine and the "scan" tab on the HP Smart App works OK too but it won't do two-sided scanning (manual) like I'm used to in another environment with he HP Extended Scan interface.
So I tried to download both "Full_Webpack-51.7.5628-SJ0001_Full_Webpack" and "HPEasyStart_15_5_6" in hopes to get the two sided scan functionality:
First with Full_Webpack-51.7.5628-SJ0001_Full_Webpack ...here's what happens:
How are you going to attach the device to your computer …wireless, wired, USB or connect later
Wireless checks network environment then asks for status
I hit he radio button “I see the status is connected and the signal strength” and I’m asked for IP address (or host name)
I enter 192.168.1.14 and the response is “Can’t retrieve SSID”
Then I select USB and after connecting the cable, nothing happens so I click to “continue the installation without connecting now, I’ll connect later.” BUT then there’s no device icon on the desktop to click on for connection.
Second with HPEasyStart_15_5_6 here's what happens:
Searches for and finds HP Envy 6458 at IP 192.168.1.14
Checks for software needs
Asks for PIN …and when submitted
Stalls at “Loading HP Account” …let it go once for over 12 hours
Bottom line ...I can't complete either installation..
BUT ...when I downloaded the HP Scan Extended App/Interface, it will only see my printer as USB.
I's really like to operate wirelessly .
I uninstalled the HP Smart app but the printer still responds to "Print" ...and as long as I have a USB connection the Scan Extended will "see" the 6458 and work beautifully.
How can I get it to work wirelessly?
