Scan to e-mail setup - HP Deskjet 3050

I would like to set up a Deskjet 3050 printer for scan to e-mail and the user guide doesn't cover that option.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated

The Deskjet 3050 doesn't support scan to email, that's the main reason why it isn't covered in the user manual.

Thanks for your quick reply.   That is interesting, because the software on an old laptop was working.  I clicked on scan to e-mail, it scanned, then clicked on save and placed in a folder and then it opened an e-mail where the destination was entered, but on the new laptop when I click on scan to e-mail it doesn't do it, so I suspect something needs to be set up on the software.

That what has been working on your previous laptop is not scan to mail.

Scan to mail is when you get to the printer, using keyboard o touchscreen on the printer enter recipients email and send a scanned document from the printer as an attachment in an email without the use of a computer.

OK, so perhaps I'm not describing it properly but when I click on the software for the printer there are several options and on the scan menu there are choices.  One of them says "scan to e-mail".  I'm doing this from the laptop, not from the printer.  I'm describing the software that came with the printer.

I'm sure it's a logical thing to set up, but I can't find any information on it.  If it worked on the old one, I can't see why it can't be done on the new laptop.

Your old computer did it use a windows 7?

Not all printer software capabilities are supported after migration to new windows 10 because of the old printer model.

Yes it was windows 7 and the new laptop is windows 10, so yes that could be the reason.  Now if I could receive the setup information for windows 7 I will be able to test it and confirm.It would be a shame to dispose of a good printer without trying, so any help you can offer will be appreciated.
