I'm at a loss, trying to set up scan to email on my 8620e. I've read a bunch of different topics, but most of them pertain to email services such as g mail or ya hoo and such, whereas I'm hosting mine via a2hosting.
No matter what I try, I keep getting an error saying: "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again."
I checked my settings many times, user & pass are definitely correct. The SMTP server is correct and confirmed working on other devices, such as my NAS. I've tried both secured and unsecured connections and SMTP ports, but all to no avail.
AFAIK there are no special restrictions or limitations on my server's end. My NAS, for example, uses the same email address,, credentials, and settings, and has no issue sending out emails.
I'm hoping you guys are able to give me a push in the right direction here. Let me know if additional information is needed. Thanks in advance!

I figured it out. That is to say, I have reset the printer back to factory details and just started setting it up again. It seems to be working now. Unsure what caused it though.

For those using g-mail and still getting the incorrect credentials, try this as it worked for me:
Log into your Google account, click on Security, scroll down to Sign in to Google, then click on App Passwords. Log in again, if needed, and then click on the Select App drop down menu and choose Other (Custom name) (alternatively, you could do the device one instead) . Type in "HP" or something to remember what the password was for. Click on Generate. In the pop up window, the password will be on the right in the box. Copy and paste it into a word document or something so you can remove the spaces if they are still present. Next, copy the password into the Scan to Email settings where it asks for your g-mail password. Save and Test - it should work.
