Hi @STCR2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Default Administrator Credentials:

  • Some HP printers use default admin credentials if none were set. Try using:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin or 123456 or leave it blank

Reset the Embedded Web Server (EWS) Password:

  • To reset the password using the printer's control panel:
    1. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Setup menu (usually a wrench icon).
    2. Select Service.
    3. Choose Restore Defaults or Restore Factory Settings.
    4. Confirm the reset. This will reset all settings to their factory defaults, including the administrative password.
    5. Note: This will also reset other settings. Make sure to reconfigure the necessary settings after a reset.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Use the IP address of the printer to access the EWS:
    1. Find your printer's IP address by printing a configuration page from the printer's control panel.
    2. Open a web browser and enter the IP address in the address bar to access the EWS.
    3. Login using the admin credentials. If you have reset the printer to factory defaults, use the default login credentials (refer to point 1).

Reconfigure Scan to Email Settings:

  • Once you have access to the EWS, navigate to the email setup:
    1. Go to the Scan tab.
    2. Select Scan to Email Setup.
    3. Configure the SMTP server settings and ensure that the username and password entered are correct.
    4. Test the configuration to ensure that it is working properly.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve issues related to settings and connectivity. Visit the HP Support - Software and Driver Downloads page, enter your printer model HP LaserJet Pro MFP M226dw, and download the latest firmware.

I hope this helps.

I followed all the steps, but I’m still unable to change the administrator password. I can access the printer's web interface using its IP address, but every action prompts me for a password. Please help me either remove the password completely or perform a full factory reset to wipe the printer and reinstall everything. I would also appreciate assistance with setting it up again afterward
