I am having an issue with it seems the same things others have on scanning to email utilizing gmail account settings.  All of those are correct along with my credentials.  There is a post on an 8726 that got resolved but they never said how it got resolved other then security issues on the gmail side.  On not allowing blocked or unknown devices.  So they changed there security settings.  I have looked everywhere on where to do this and I probably have worn out this site and google does anyone know how to fix this issue its really annoying.  Yes firmware is updated all of that

If you refer to the security settings in gmail related to Two-Step Verification or smtp port, the following might be helpful.

Pay attention to the requirement that you have a mail program installed on the computer.  Web based email access is not "an installed email program".

Requires an installed email program on the computer (for example, Outlook, Thunderbird).

Add your email address to the installed email program.

Obtain smtp information from your Mail provider.

Example:  smtp.gmail.com       Port 465

If it gets "weird"...

If Port 465 fails, set to Port 587 on the main setup menu.

In the Profile attached to the setup, set the smtp port in the Profile to 465.

EWS > Scan to Email Setup

Enter your email address

Enter your smtp Server Name and port

CHECK "Always use secure connection (SSL/TLS)"

CHECK "Server requires authentication"

Enter email address

Enter email password

Testing is optional

Two-Step Verification - Notes

If your mail provides offers "Two-step verification":

Log into your mail program and set the security options

Example - Google gmail:

  • Log into your gmail account (on the web browser)
  • Settings (gear wheel)
  • Accounts and Import
  • Other google Account Settings
  • tab / section Security
  • Switch Off 2-step verification
  • Scroll down > Switch On Less Secure Apps

NOTE:  It might be possible to use "Apps password" - option is not covered here

If you are unhappy about setting the two-step verification to OFF, consider using / creating a separate email address for your Scan to Email setup.

If you printer supports the option,

Set up Scan to Email using the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Example

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Topic / Tab Scan > Scan to Email

EWS_8740_Scan-to-Email_Setup_4EWS_8740_Scan-to-Email_Setup_4
