Short story, I read and followed several threads about "Creating a new user" and "Sharing the new user's folder"... but the HP Save & Test kept failing on my stationary, always-on, MacMini. Nothing worked!!
Ignoring all posts and threads, I went to my MacMini's base-level hard drive and did the following on my own:
1) Created a folder named ScanToFolder.
2) Went to the folder's Get Info, checked the Shared Folder box
2a) While in Get Info, went to the Server: line and copied the address smb://MacMini._smb._tcp.local/ScanToPrinter
3) Went to System Prefs >> Sharing >> File Sharing checked >> Found and Selected "ScanToFolder" folder >>User "Everyone" can Read & Write
4) Opend the configuration webpage for my M477fdw >> Scan tab >> NEW network folder setup
5) Display Name* = ScanToFolder
6) Network Path* = \\MacMini._smb._tcp.local\ScanToPrinter (NOTE: I removed smb: and reversed // to \\ and / to \
7) I ran the Test & Save and it reported successfull.

can you possibly help me out? i am going nuts trying to solve this
i have a laserjet mfp m477fnw and am trying to do scan to network folder since scan to pc is gone
i created a folder called test_scans
i made it a shared folder by right-clicking. gave it read/write permissions by everyone
i took the directory on my terminal
i enabled file sharing
for display name* test_scans_test
network path* \\192.168.1.15\Users\kenny_imac\Public\test_scans
i took the afp/smb address in the above. reversed all the slashes
filled out my username and password
but it keeps failing. i have no idea why. ive been messing around nonstop with the network path. what am i doing wrong?
i attached a photo with all that ive done
