Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello,

I'm trying to set up my new Smart Tank printer to Scan to Network printer. I keep getting an error of invalid credentials. I've also tried setting it up without credentials and get the same error.  My preference is to not have to log into the folder the scans are going to. Right now I have a new folder set up on my desktop.

NOTE: I've been on over 6 hours of calls with HP support. I've been disconnected at least 3 times, referred to an incorrect group, talked to 3 different tech people and they've created 5 cases. (Why new cases, I don't understand.)

Before I totally lose my mind, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Welcome to the HP Community --

We don't have any way to check what you have tried with HP Support --

We cannot contact them on your behalf  nor can we learn which printer model you have.

-- Discussion --

Scan to Network comes in two main "flavors" --

  • Embedded Web Server (EWS) - full blown SMTP Scan to Network Folder - Quick Set Profile(s)
  • HP Scan - part of the Windows full driver printer software - Destination setup

Some of the rules are the same for both --

  • The Destination folder must be Shared AND the Read / Write access must be open for at least the sender account.
  • The Sender account must be able to access the destination using the credentials built into the job configuration (job setup).

For example,

Navigate to the destination folder -

Right-Click on the folder

Open the Sharing tab

Verify the Folder is Shared

Next,

Open the Security tab

Look for the sender's account in the list -

Tap the sender's account

Verify that the account has full access to the folder

Next,

Verify that your network the way you want it run and that the access is set up as needed.

Example - Settings > Network & internet

Advanced network settings > Advanced sharing settings

Windows_Network-and-Sharing_Discovery_3Windows_Network-and-Sharing_Discovery_3

Next,

An example EWS - SMTP - Scan to Folder

-- Classic EWS – InkJet Printers that support SMTP Scan to Network Folder --

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Network Folder Setup

An older example --- Classic EWS and an older printer model

EWS_9025_Scan_to_Network_Folder_17EWS_9025_Scan_to_Network_Folder_17

-- OR –

-- Alternate Format EWS – Select Newer Printers and select LaserJet Printers --

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Quick Sets > Select one of -- Add / Edit / Copy / Delete  > Quick Set Profile

Complete the steps to create / update the Profile

and

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Default Job Options

Example - Quick Set - Scan to Network Folder > OneDrive

EWS_9135_Quick_Sets_Network_Folder_OneDrive_7EWS_9135_Quick_Sets_Network_Folder_OneDrive_7EWS_9135_Scan_to_Network_Folder_Default_Job_Options_5EWS_9135_Scan_to_Network_Folder_Default_Job_Options_5
