I have several multi-page documents that need to be scanned. I would like to be able to start the scan from the printer and have the file automatically saved as a pdf (rather than saved as a jpeg). The device will save a scan as a pdf if the scan is started from the computer and pdf is selected from the drop down menu in the app/program, but this is not practical for our office as the printer is far away from the computer.

Hi,

HP Laserjet printers does not support scanning to computer from the front panel, scanning to computer initialize WSD scanning services  by Windows, which does not support PDF scanning.

 

PDF files can be scanned from HP Scan or HP Smart on your PC.

 

To scan PDFs from the front panel, you may set up scanning to email or a shared folder instead:
