Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Am trying to scan photos to archive, and want to scan to TIFF or PNG, only choices provided through HP Smart are .jpg or .pdf.

Another possible solution mentioned in these forums is to use WIndows 10 Scan app and set that to .tiff...but the Win10 Scan app doesn't seem to have an option for changing resolution to 600 dpi.

So, ATM it looks as if one could use HP's Smart App to change to 600dpi and then later change the resulting .jpg file to .tiff ... extra work and extra sampling errors.

Hi,

Within the Windows 10 Scan app, change the Source from Feeder to Flatbed, then you should see higher resolutions up to 1200 DPI, the Feeder is limited to 300 DPI.

You may also check if HP Scan and Capture may provide you better results for your needs:
