I had been using HP Smart to scan my documents with the document feeder and the feeder no longer works.  It does not work with just the copy feature also.  I have cleaned the rollers and did the shut down and still it does not work.

Hi @cleinck,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried some basic troubleshooting steps, like cleaning the rollers and performing a shutdown. If those didn't resolve the issue, here are a few more steps you can try.

  • Check for paper jams: Even if you've already cleaned the rollers, there might still be small bits of paper or debris stuck in the feeder mechanism. Carefully inspect the entire path that the paper takes through the feeder to make sure there are no obstructions.
  • Check for software issues: Sometimes, scanning problems can be caused by issues with the scanning software or drivers. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart software, or updating the drivers for your printer/scanner.
  • Reset the printer: In addition to a regular shutdown, you can also try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. Consult the printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to do this.
  • Test with different documents: Sometimes, the type or condition of the documents being scanned can affect the performance of the document feeder. Try scanning different types of documents (e.g., varying sizes and thicknesses) to see if the issue persists across all of them.

By going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to identify and resolve the issue with your document feeder.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
