I have a HP Laserjet pro MFP M281fdw. I have tried several ways to scan. One was the HP scanner app, then HP Smart, and then "scan to folder" using the Laser display.
The two first ways always come out a skew of 1 - 2 degrees. I suppose this is due to the fact that scanner is made of plastic parts with low precision. Though I don't think it is acceptable for a "pro" product. You can improve by manually correct the angle of the document, but I still don't think you should need to that with a "pro" product.
The interesting thing is that if I "scan to folder", there is no skew. Obviously, there is a software which corrects the skew of the document when I sue "scan to folder".
So you might say that this solves the problem, but the "scan to folder" does not have features which allows to scan multiple double-sided pages, which are included in the HP scanner app.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the skew compensation while using an app instead of starting the scan directly from the Laserjet?

In terms of scanning, the allowable skew according to specs ranges from 2-5mm depending on model when scanning through the ADF and if you read the user guide it actually states that for accurate scanning to scan from the flat bed glass and not the ADF.
