This process is part of Manage Scan to Computer.

Disable Manage Scan to Computer to stop it from constant trying to connect.

and

UNCheck the box to keep the process from starting every time the computer is started.

Next,

  • Reboot the computer

OR

  • Open the Task Manager,
  • Find the offending ScanToPcActivationApp
  • Right-Click and End (kill) the ScanToPcActivationApp process

Access to Manage Scan to Computer is located in the Assistant shortcut icon on your Desktop --

The Assistant is part of your installed full driver printer software.

HP Containers / Desktop Shortcuts

Next,

  • The full driver printer software will have added one or more "container" shortcuts on the Desktop:

  • Printer Assistant - named for the printer model

OR

On newer printers and when the new full driver printer software no longer supports the Printer Assistant:

  • Scan Assistant - named for itself

AND

  • The full driver printer software, once installed, will have added a shortcut icon for HP Scan

NOTE  → Assistant wrappers and HP Scan version / format are Model Dependent
