Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to scan a 4x4 picture using HP Smart in windows 10  on my Envy 6400e but I don't know how to set up my printer to allow me to change the scan size to 4x4 and I do not see any "handles" to change a "Entire Scan Area" so it will just scan the picture only. Am I missing something or is there another solution?

Hi @LynRG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

To scan a 4x4 picture using HP Smart on your HP Envy 6400e printer in Windows 10, you can follow these general steps. Please note that specific steps may vary slightly based on the version of HP Smart you have and the printer model.

Ensure that your printer is properly set up and connected to your computer before starting.

Open HP Smart:

  • Launch the HP Smart application on your Windows 10 computer. If you don't have it installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.

Select Your Printer:

  • Once HP Smart is open, select your Envy 6400e printer from the list of available printers. Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer.

Navigate to Scan:

  • Look for the "Scan" option within HP Smart. It might be labeled as "Scan" or appear as a scanner icon. Click on it to access the scanning options.

Choose Scan Settings:

  • Look for settings related to scan size or resolution. This might be labeled as "Scan Size," "Paper Size," or similar. Click on it to open the scan settings.

Adjust Scan Size:

  • In the scan settings, you should be able to choose the paper size or customize the scan area. Look for options like "Custom Size" or "Crop" that allow you to set the dimensions manually.

Set Dimensions to 4x4:

  • Enter the dimensions for your 4x4 picture. It may be expressed in inches or millimeters. Make sure to set both the width and height to 4 inches.

Preview and Adjust:

  • Some scanning applications allow you to preview the scan before finalizing. Use this feature to ensure that the selected area covers your entire 4x4 picture. Make adjustments if needed.

Start the Scan:

  • Once you are satisfied with the settings, initiate the scan process. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the scanning process.

Remember that the specific steps might vary based on the version of HP Smart and the printer model. If you encounter any difficulties, contact phone support. They will help you via remote assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
