Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Envy 7645
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When using the HP menu, it asks what connection type to use.  I have the HP Envy plugged into USB as well as over my network.  When I select the network as my connection type, it will not show the SCAN option,  just PRINT and FAX.  When I select the USB option, it show all three menus:  PRINT   SCAN   FAX,  Any ideas why the SCAN menu is missing when I select the network connection type.  I have run the HP doctor a couple of times and all seems to work fine but just missing this item on the network!

Hi @Wheatgerm

It should be OK to have the printer connected via USB and wireless. YOu just need to know which printer to select if it's connect (USB and Wireless) on the same compter.

If it's different computers (PC and Mac), it will work as well.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Are you trying to scan to computer?

If you are, once you select the network, can you start the HP Printer Assistant and select Scan and enable Scan t Computer?

Follow this steps:

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software:

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Hope that helps.

The problem is when I select the network and then bring up the HP printer Assistant for the Envy 7645, there is NO SCAN menu.  However,  If I select USB rather than network,  there is a SCAN menu along with the PRINT and FAX menu.  Could this be because I have the USB cable connected?

Hi @Wheatgerm

INteresting.  We know Scan to computer is enabled by default for USB.

So if you are connected by USB, then use that means to "Scan to computer"

Thanks.

But.....what if I do not want my printer next to the computer and disconnect the USB;  how do you scan using the HP printer assistant on my computer over the network?

HP Recommended

I can use my scanner by using the Envy menu on screen, USB connection on the computer, or from my Android.  I just don't have a SCAN menu when selecting network on the HP printing assistant....why?

I finally got it figured out....I previously had a HP C7250 and just purchased the HP Envy 7640 series.  I needed to uninstall all the software from the previous printer as it kept defaulting to the USB whenever I wanted to scan.  That is why I needed a fresh software install and setup to wireless first thing...thanks for all the replys and help with this issue

Got it fixed by uninstalling ALL HP software and reinstalling to setup for wireless only....wroks great now!

One quick question:   Can I have the printer on the network, using it as a wireless and still plug into the computer with the USB or will it cause some issues with the software.  I would like to do most of my printing from my Mac laptop but then I have a PC where the USB works much faster.
