Scanjet 7500
macOS 10.15 Catalina

When I scan duplex from the ADF of my Scanjet Enterprise Flow 7500 I get a thick black line down the length of the even number pages of the document. Flatbed and single-sided scans are clean. Glass areas are clean. I'm guessing that there is an issue with the sensor that does the back side of the page when doing duplex scanning. Don't have an agent nearby and need some help, please.

How thick is the line?

If close to 2 cm then you have a defective scanner sensor, if thin like 1 mm then you need to clean upper scanning sensor ( probably just smudge or dirt on it)

It's a broad black band (about 2cm) so it sounds like a sensor. Are these easy to fix? Any idea of cost? Thanks for your help.

You will need to call your local service centres for a repair quote. The repair cost will be pretty high.
