I can no longer scan on my HP2600 printer. Has something changed in the last few weeks as I could scan before I went on holidays.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 
If your HP DeskJet 2600 was scanning fine before your holidays and suddenly stopped, it’s likely due to a recent Windows update, HP Smart app change, or driver issue. Let’s walk through the steps to get scanning working again:

Use HP Smart App’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • Download or open the HP Smart app: HP Smart
  • In the app:
    • On Windows, click the wrench icon (bottom left).
    • On Mac, click the printer dropdown in the top menu.
  • Run Diagnose & Fix to automatically detect and resolve scanning issues.

Check Scanner Connection

  • Ensure your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  • If using USB, try a different port and cable.
  • Restart both the printer and your computer.

Update or Reinstall Drivers

Outdated or corrupted drivers can block scanning. Get the latest drivers here: Official HP® Support

 

Reset Printer’s Wi-Fi Setup Mode

If the printer lost its network settings while you were away:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  • This resets Wi-Fi setup mode so you can reconnect using HP Smart.

Try Scanning from HP Smart or Windows Fax & Scan

  • Open HP Smart and try scanning from there.
  • Alternatively, use Windows Fax and Scan (search in Start menu).
