NoOne?

After all the desktop drivers for this printer failed to install, (unsupported operating system errors) I've download the Enterprise drivers from

http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=hp+envy+4500

...which says the source of the drivers are from HP...

But if I uninstall the driver from the Driver Manager, and scan for new hardware, it automatically installs thee basic print driver again without the scanner drivers. Never gives me a change to install manually... It automatically finds and installs just the basic print driver.

If I look in the Enterprise cab from Windows Update Services, I can see that there is a driver folder for the scanner dll's. If I try to update the printer drivers from that folder (extracted) I just get a message that the driver is already the newest, so does nothing.

This Is Server Hardware (plus gaming memory and NVidia SLI's) running Windows Server 2012R2 DataCenter, OS, setup up as a standalone Workstation... Desktop Experience feature installed. My Gaming PC. So a Gamer and Developer's workstation. machine. "Dev", because I also develop Server scripts and apps. (Yes. Maximum overkill)

Windows Domain is not added as a role, so I did not add Printer Server services nor shared Scanner Server services as any roles. Yes, I know that is an option, but I'm not sure if I want to add that overhead just to be able to scan from this locally added printer.

I'm not a usual user. 31 years of advanced IT experience. I started looking through the inf files to see if if there was something I could edit in the config, install or config db files of the cab file,  but haven't found anything yet...

Okay. So I manually turned off update driver from Updates... Uninstalled driver through device manager... Then scanned for new hardware.  It still automatically installed the basic print driver, without any interaction..

Message "Driver Management concluded the process to install driver hpvyt11.inf_amd64_01a8de95330b6fa5\hpvyt11.inf for Device Instance ID USBPRINT\HPENVY_4500_SERIES\7&A156313&0&USB001 with the following status: 0x0.

I looked in \Windows\System32\Driverstore\Filerepository\ and the "basic printer driver" driver files are still present in the Driver Store...

I thnk what I might have to do is to use PowerShell to manually remove the print driver from the Driver Store, then Use PowerShell to manually add the Enterprise driver with the scanner drivers, back to the driver store.

*** What I am not sure, is which of the 4 Enterprise Drivers there is the one I need...

Okay. I'm stuck.

To add a driver from the Driver Store via PowerShell, first the driver has to "exist" in the Driver Store. I can list what is there and the Basic HP Envy Print Driver exists in the Driver Store.

For it to exist in the Driver Store, it has to be installed via PnPUtil.exe. Of course the version of PnPUtil.exe on Win Server 2012R2 does match the syntax  at Microsoft for desktop versions... But you can add and delete drivers to thee Driver Store Via that utility... But you have to know the enumerated name of the driver's install inf file first(?)  If I try to list the drivers enurated and present via PnPUtil.exe, I don't see that driver, to get the info to remove the old driver, so I can manually add and install the new driver... ???
