Scanner problem

Message from scanner: No document loaded …

Using MacBook Air with operating system:  macOS Monterey version 12.0.1

Using wireless connection to HP printer.

Printed documents without a problem from the computer today just now, after trying to get the scanner to work. So the wireless connection should be okay.

Went to scan a document and received, “No document loaded” message.
Unplugged power cord from HP printer while the printer was on, unplugged from power supply, waited more than one minute, reconnected, received same message. Tried turning HP printer off, waiting, turning back on, unplugging, nothing has worked.

Please help.

I understand you are not able to scan from the Mac. To assist you better,

• Which app are you using to scan?
• Are you placing the original document on the glass or the ADF?
• Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

• Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac? If yes, disable the same for time being.

  To check, select the Go menu on the top of the screen and go to the Applications folder.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Check the scanner bar functionality

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

If the scanner light does not move or moves halfway or is not lit, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed/broken.

You may use HP Easy Scan or the Apple Image capture app to scan and check if that helps.
