HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw

I have a HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277dw printer(all-in-one) and it has an issue  on Scan and Photocopy.

To print through PC no problem it works fine.

To scan and Copying  not possible although i applied all remedy  lecture from your catalogues but nothing runs well.

Even i used HP Scan and Print Doctor and once try to scan not possible and it gives that warning:-

"Scanning communication cannot be established. Ensure your product is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network functions properly"

It is connected through USB and i checked connection are ok.

And since copying does not depend on USB  i tried not working.

I have a doubt on the unit itself because even the scan light on flatbed glass not illuminates also no bed sliding action.

Please give further solution.

Hi @SH17777500-,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already taken several troubleshooting steps, and the issue persists. Since the scanning light on the flatbed glass doesn't illuminate, and there's no bed sliding action, it indicates a potential hardware problem with the scanning mechanism.

Here are a few additional steps you can take.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and then into the wall outlet.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the scanning function is working.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates on the HP website. Follow the instructions provided by HP for updating the firmware.

Check Scanner Connection:

  • Make sure the scanner is securely connected to the main unit. If there's a detachable cable, ensure it's firmly connected.

Check for Physical Obstructions:

  • Open the scanner lid and check for any physical obstructions on the scanner bed or the scanning mechanism. Clear any debris or foreign objects that may be blocking the scanner.

Test with Another Device:

  • Try connecting the printer to another computer and see if the scanning function works. This can help determine whether the issue is with the printer or the computer.

Remember, if the printer is still under warranty, contacting HP support is crucial, as attempting to fix certain issues on your own could void the warranty.

If none of these steps resolves the issue, it's likely that there's a hardware problem with the scanner unit,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
