There is no light bulb in the scanner. It uses LEDs which are built in the scanner.

Could you give more details as to what you are trying to do (scanning using the ADF? on the glass? by pressing the scan button on the device or through the scan software on the computer, etc?)

If scanning on the glass with the cover open, do you see the scanner moving?

Scanning on the glass. Yes the scanner head moves just no light.

The customer suspects the problem may have started after a power outage

any help on where I can find parts for this printer/scanner?

I suggest first run diagnoses with HP scan doctor, hopefully that will help identify the issue.

Also, did the customer actually tried to scan? and what is the result? A black image?

I have not heard of scan doctor. Do you have a link?

Yes, when scanning you get a black page.

Okay I ran HP's scanner doctor, it found no problems but still when I scan a simple printout, this time a test page, the light does not come on and a get the image attached.

Any ideas on how to fix would be great.

Thanks

Hi, I am having the exact same issue.  Scan Doctor didn't find anything wrong.  My scanner is going across back and forth but there is NO LIGHT.  When I try to scan/copy something I get the same result as cdcomputerroom2.  I get the image with lines everywhere.  Everything seems to work except for the light.  I am technical and just need to know what part I need to replace.  I've found videos online on replacing the scanner bed but thought that I could just replace the light bar or something smaller than the whole entire scanner bed.

Please advise.
