Hi,  I've similar issue mentioned in https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/Scanner-clips-edges-of-scans/td-p/6736010 with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8620.

When I scan documents put exactly to the marked edge it is cut by 2mm. It doesn't really matter for text documents with half inch edges, but for photo it makes a difference. Example on this scan of game card - you can notice, that top and left edges are narrow, while bottom and right have rounded edges as the game card has.

Application I use is HP Scan and Capture on Windows 10, with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8620.

Card is placed in the edge of the surface as in this photo:

Place a sheet of paper over the card to see if that will make any change.

You can move a card 1 cm away from the marked edges cover it with a sheet of paper scan and then cut out the part you need in MS paint.

I've tried to scan it with sheet of printing paper over the card as you suggest, but unfortunately it gives same result - card is still cut from the edges. Same result if I keep the lid open (except that background is gray).

Estimating 1cm distance is not really practical - there're 20+ of these cards and I won't match the position / angle for each of them precisely, so I can later batch process them into single pdf. I'm using steel square ruler for that - gives exactly same borders and position every time.

But I believe there must be better solution to this bug in HP scanners. Maybe newer firmware or some software configuration? I would be surprised if HP QA's failed so much, that they let product with such significant hardware error out of the factory…
