Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HPpsc750
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Further to my previous post as hereunder, to which I have not yet had anybody respond, I was wondering if my issue may be related to a software problem because-

I originally could not find my installtion disks so I installed a driver using  MS search . The printer works for black printing only (even though I put in a new color cartridge). Color printing and the scanner are not working. I am thinking that this may be due to the current driver????

I have since found my original installation disks which are for Windows XP and Window 2000.

If i unistall the current MS driver and install the windows 2000 driver from the original disc, does anyone know if that will be a problem since my operating system is Windows 8.1?

Previous post -

Product Name: HPpsc750
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I successfully managaed to get the above printer installed and printing in black only, thanks to Shlomil, but when I put new cartridges in, it successfully printed (only in black) the cartridge alignment page. It then requested me to put this page on the glass scanner in order to Align the cartidges.

That is where my issue now stands, because the screen says "Aligning... please wait" and nothing more happens.

Any body with a solution.?

Is it perhaps because I put in a new color cartidge which has been sitting in the box for a couple of years and has perhaps dried up?

The printer may be looking for color and cant find it???

If I try pressing any buttons, then I get a  "scan error" message

Any suggestions?

Hello, @SolProf – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I’m here to help with the printer issues!

Going through your post, I see that you are facing issues while printing in color and while using the scanner. Let me try to address the issue one by one.

1) Color printing:

Now, this issue could be either a printer hardware issue or a software issue. To isolate, I need to know whether the printer can make a color "Photocopy" or not.

Place a color document face down on the scanner glass and press the color copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

If the copy is also coming out in black, then the issue is not with the print drivers and is with the printer hardware / cartridges.

If the copy is coming out in color, then the issue is with the printer drivers. Since this is an older model printer, we do not have the drivers available and you can try and use the Windows built-in drivers and check.

First, open Windows Device Installation Settings and confirm that your computer is set to automatically download driver software.

  • Search Windows for Change Device Installation, and then click the Change device installation settings Control Panel setting in the list of results.
  • Device Installation Settings window displays.
  • Select the Yes option, and then click Save Changes.

Now, follow the steps listed under step 3 here: http://hp.care/2oSqtTW

2) Scanner issue:

This issue again can be due to either the printer hardware or the printer drivers. If the copy was successful, then the printer hardware is good and the issue is with the scan drivers on the PC.

You can try and use the HP Scan and Capture to scan. Download it here: http://hp.care/2nZfg1K

That should help. Let me know!

Cheers 🙂

Hi DVOTEX

I am begining to think that I have a harware issue.

I tried the windows 8.1  Scan and Fax program as weel as the HP Scan and Capture App you recommended,

In both cases I get a "Scaner Failure " error on the printer's screen.

So it probably is not software, since both programs above did not work.

If it is hardware, do you think it will pay me to have someone look at the printer to repair it, or should I just live with the printer feature only and forget about scanning and faxing.?

Or do you have any other suggestions to consider?

Hello, @SolProf

You did not mention what happens while making a copy. This will tell us whether the issue is with the printer or the software.

If the copy fails, then the issue is with the printer hardware and I'd suggest you perform a hard reset before going for the replacement options.

  • Remove the cartridges from the printer.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If the issue persists, then I would suggest going for a new printer rather than trying to repair this unit. You can contact the HP phone support to get the printer service options.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I’ll do my best to help!

Good luck 🙂

Hi

I was unable to copy or scan.  I can only print (in black) and I tried a "cold" boot as suggested several times but that did not help either.

So it  looks like a new printer is on the horizon for me.

Thanks for all your help. It was very useful
