Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

When I am working, I typically have multiple Windows virtual desktops open. When I open the scan feature related to my HP Officejet 9010 printer In desktop number three for example, and then I move to desktop one to work on something else while the scan is taking place, when I return to desktop number three, the HP SMART scan feature has closed and my scan is discarded. Very frustrating, especially when the scan takes several minutes. It's not practical for me to sit here and twiddle my thumbs in the same desktop when I have other work to do in another desktop.

Hi @MarkS27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

This issue seems to involve the HP application used for scanning with your HP Officejet 9010 printer, which closes unexpectedly when you switch between virtual desktops on Windows. This can indeed be frustrating, especially during lengthy scanning processes.

Possible Solutions:

Keep HP APP in Focus:

  • Ensure that the HP application stays in the foreground or an active window while scanning. Some applications might pause or terminate their processes when moved to the background, depending on Windows' resource management settings.

Adjust Power and Sleep Settings:

  • Check your computer’s power settings to ensure that no power-saving options are inadvertently closing applications when they're not actively in use. Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep and adjust the timeout settings as necessary.

Update HP App:

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure your printer's drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the official HP support website.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Sometimes, the fast startup feature in Windows can cause applications to behave unpredictably. Consider disabling it by going to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable, and uncheck "Turn on fast startup."

Use a Single Desktop for Scanning:

  • If the problem persists, try conducting your scanning tasks on the primary desktop until a more permanent solution is found.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
