I just purchase a HP Envy 5455e combination printer & scanner and connected it to my IPad. It prints very good, however when i tried to scan 3 pagers it just reprinted them. I am not sure if they scanned or if they did  where might i find them. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the HP Community --

"Just purchased" is perhaps one of the printers in this series:

HP ENVY 6400e All-In-One Printer series

For example

iOS is likely the iPhone -- I did finally order one but it's not here yet... the following is based on iPadOS... yes, different animal.  Hopefully similar enough...

Scanning comes in a couple of flavors -- one of which is the Scan action for photos or documents and a "scan > Import" that works for at least importing previously saved photo / image files.  Once scanned (or Imported), the content can be passed to the next "Action".

For example,
After the content is scanned / imported, it can be optionally edited in a variety of ways -- for example, Crop (shape) or Adjust (color).

At least in iPadOS, for photos / images, there is also a manual Transform > Resize / Move > manual resize option that, while not precisely "great", does at least allow a manual resize of the object.  Document resize is limited to Original, Fit to Page, or Fill Page (model dependent).

After any optional changes, the content is "Done" (selected to stop the editing).
Next Action:
Save, Share (to email), Print, shoved into a Shortcut for final processing, or possibly passed to Mobile Fax.
(Some of these might not be part of iOS but I'm guessing here...)
In general, I believe it is possible to add more than one Action by simply going "Back".
For example, Use Save > retreat one action / page "back" and select Print.

So, what happened?
No idea.
Where to look?
If the presumably scanned content only Printed instead of Saved,  then there is no file based copy.
If somehow the content was Saved there are two places it might normally land (at least in iPadOS):
Files
OR
"on my phone" (iPad) - possibly an named HP Smart sub-folder  (might be in that Files folder?)
OR
If sent to a shortcut, then the content was passed to a previously created shortcut -- possibly saved in iCloud or other Cloud Storage destination.

Some general examples (unfortunately missing the sample of what Files looks like)...
