Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Scanner function has stopped working. I had an error with scanning and copying. The shop replaced the glass and top of the 8025E all in one. When I got it back it would copy OK. It will print from my desktop over Wi-Fi to the printer. My wife can send print jobs from her Iphone to the printer OK over Wi-Fi.  The scanner function worked OK for 3 years before this recent incident. When i try to print to the computer from the display screen on the printer it says to download HP Smart ( which is already on the computer) and it says scanner can't connect to the Wi-Fi  (but the same unit is doing print jobs through our Wi-Fi from different devices).

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @dresdenron

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the situation clearly: your HP OfficeJet 8025e prints and copies fine, but scanning fails with a message about downloading the HP App and not connecting to Wi-Fi, even though printing works wirelessly.

Let’s go through structured steps to restore the scanner function:

Step 1: Confirm Printer Connection

  • On the printer’s control panel, open Wireless Settings and ensure the printer shows “Connected” with a valid IP address.
  • If needed, restart your router and printer, then reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Verify HP App Setup

  • On your Windows or Mac computer, open the HP App.
  • Make sure the printer is listed. If not, add it manually using the printer’s IP address.
  • Run a test scan from within the HP App.

Step 3: Check Windows/Mac Imaging Devices

  • On Windows:
    • Press Windows + R, type control printers, and check if the HP OfficeJet 8025e is listed with both printer and scanner functions.
    • If the scanner is missing, remove the printer and reinstall it through the HP App.
  • On Mac:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Ensure the HP OfficeJet 8025e is listed with scanner functionality. If not, remove and re-add it.

Step 4: Run Diagnose & Fix

  • In the HP App, select your printer.
  • Use the Diagnose & Fix option to automatically resolve connectivity issues between the scanner and computer.

Step 5: Test Direct Scan

  • On the printer’s control panel, try scanning directly to the computer again.
  • If the error persists, attempt scanning from the HP App instead of the printer’s display screen to confirm whether the issue is with the control panel communication.

Step 6: Update Software

  • Ensure the HP App is updated to the latest version.
  • Check for firmware updates on the printer via the control panel under Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.

Summary:
Your printer is connected to Wi-Fi and prints fine, but the scanner isn’t communicating with the computer. The most effective steps are to confirm the printer’s IP connection, ensure the HP App recognizes the device, reinstall if necessary, and use Diagnose & Fix. Updating both the HP App and printer firmware often resolves lingering scan connection issues.
