My printer Envy 6000 series all-in-one keeps showing "Scanner is busy" error even though I have everything recommended in the chats on this board.
Any help with resolving this issue will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi @Paul9611
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I’m sorry you’re still seeing the “Scanner is busy” message, and I appreciate the effort you’ve already put in to follow the guidance available.
Let’s go through a careful set of steps that often clears this error and gets the scanner working smoothly again:
Power reset
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the cord and power the printer back on. This clears any stalled scanner signals.
Check for pending jobs
- On your Windows 11 PC, open the HP App.
- Make sure there are no pending scan or copy jobs stuck in the queue. Cancel any that appear.
Verify scanner glass and ADF
- Lift the scanner lid and ensure no paper or debris is left on the glass.
- If your model has an automatic document feeder, check that no sheet is partially inserted.
Run the scanner troubleshooter
- In the HP App, select your printer.
- Go to Printer Settings > Tools > Run Scan Doctor (within the app).
- Follow the prompts to test and reset the scanner.
Update firmware
- Outdated firmware can sometimes cause communication errors. Download and install the latest firmware for your printer here:
HP ENVY 6000e All-in-One Printer Firmware and Drivers
Test scanning directly from the printer
- Place a sheet on the scanner glass.
- Use the printer’s control panel to initiate a copy.
- If the copy works, the scanner hardware is functioning, and the issue may be limited to the PC connection.
You’ve already shown persistence by checking the basics. With a full power reset, clearing jobs, and updating firmware, the scanner should respond more fluidly and allow you to scan without interruptions.
