I have discovered that if you hit the Back button, instead of the Done button, or don't hit the Done button and just exit out of the HP Scan screen, that it can freeze up the printer/scanner with this error.

Hi@AmazingAmazon,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing printing/scanning issues with the HP Printer.

I have a few recommendations

  • Please try the below steps .

  • While the printer is ON, unplug the power cord from back of the printer.
  • Restart the PC.
  • If the Printer is connected in a Wireless network, then power off the Router for 10 seconds and then power it ON.
  • Connect the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet and then to back of the printer. If printer does not power ON automatically, then press the ON button to do so.
  • Now try scanning. It should work.

If issue persist then follow the below steps to fix the issue.

  • Clear all paper from the input tray.
  • Clear jammed paper from the output tray.
  • Make sure the carriage can move freely.
  • Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed.
  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.
  • Reset the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
