I believe in order to scan on my HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M28w I need to restore the factory settings on the printer.  I can not seem to find the location to do so.

Can someone help me out?

Hi @Ottawakid,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Restoring factory settings on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w is a straightforward process. Here's how you can do it.

  • Access the Control Panel: On the printer's control panel, locate the "Setup" button. Press it to access the setup menu.
  • Navigate to "Service" Menu: Within the setup menu, navigate to the "Service" menu. This menu may be accessed by scrolling through the options using the arrow keys on the control panel.
  • Select "Restore Defaults" or "Restore Factory Settings": Once in the "Service" menu, look for an option that mentions restoring defaults or factory settings. Select this option.
  • Confirm the Action: After selecting the option to restore defaults or factory settings, the printer may prompt you to confirm the action. Confirm it if prompted.
  • Wait for the Reset to Complete: The printer will now begin the process of restoring the factory settings. This may take a few moments. Once completed, the printer will restart.
  • Test the Scanner: After the printer has restarted, you can test whether the scanner is working properly by trying to scan a document.

Following these steps should help you restore the factory settings on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
