HP ENVY Photo 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HP Envy Photo 7855 scanning issue: Scanner Feeder Mispick detected. Also, scans completely black, with grey stripes.

Not computer issue, as it used to work with my Windows 10 laptop and my iMac desktop. Now it doesn't work with either, or independently.

@BobB7, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Have you tried making a copy from the feeder and the flatbed glass to check if the issue persists?

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Kumar, thank you for your reply. I followed all your suggestions. The scanner still scans all black with stripes (color or grey, depending on the setting), regardless of whether there is a document on the flatbed, or nothing. I also get the same results with copying to print. Also, now the scanner doesn't even recognize that there is a document in the document feeder. I tried both methods at different times.

This seems like a hardware issue with the scanner mechanism. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

The printing mechanism is not related to the scanner. If you have print quality issues, clean the printhead and check the ink levels as mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I just mentioned the copy to print, all black with stripes, as one of the problems.

When I scan a document, or even a blank scan, the scanned image to the computer is all black with stripes, no matter what is on the scanner.

I understand. That is why I suggested you contact the HP technical support team for further assistance or service options.
