Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan

Scanjet Pro 2500 f1
Microsoft Windows 11

I had  issues with my scanner after upgrading to Windows 11. The scanner software reported it could not communicate with the scanner. I tried restarting several times. This is one of those really annoying intermittent issues.  Sometimes the scanner works fine after restarting, sometimes it doesn't. Other scanner software (Readiris 17) has the same issue. I can hear the scanner connecting when I switch it on. It shows in device manager. I have updated the firmware and drivers.

I sent a support request to HP support but they closed the case before sending me a reply 😞

On the strength of this I reverted to Windows 10, where the scanner works fine.  I'd quite like to use Windows 11, however, but would welcome reassurance that I can use my scanner under that platform.

I have the same problem with Win 11 and same scanner. It seems that the scanner needs to be turned on before I can start my computer, and in such case, the scanner is recognized and works. If the scanner power is off at computer start, the scanner software reports it cannot find/communicate with the scanner. This is the same case when the scanner power is off due to inactivity, and I turn it back on.

HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows does not se the scanner at all.

Please help!!!

Wow, I just joined the forums to post a work around for this issue that I figured out mere minutes ago.

No problems with windows 10. No problems with Linux Mint (had dual boot enabled). Just windows 11. Same issue as the OP and other poster.

Really annoying having to restart the pc to use the scanner so instead here is what i do:

I unplug the scanner's USB and use a driver utility program (IOBit Driver Booster) to "clean all unplugged devices data". It doesn't delete the drivers. Then I plug back in the USB and voila!

Hope this helps you guys as much as it does me.

UNV_Rasta do you only need to do this once and it never breaks after, or do you do this every time it breaks?

I seem to have the same issue.  Since I switched to a new computer with Windows 11 Pro on it, after every time my computer has gone into sleep mode, the scan software no longer sees the ScanJet Pro 2500 f1.  The only thing that brings it back is a full reboot.  Kinda defeats the purpose of sleep mode, and really frustrating.  I have to get out of all the stuff I have opened each and every time.  How many people have to say there is a problem before HP comes forward with a solution?   I'm new to this forum, so please excuse me if I got it wrong.

you dont need to do a full reboot. if you go into services.msc u can stop and start the WIA process, this will make the scanner function again. however this aint good enough for me cos i have about 100 of these in the network i manage. My current workaround is to set the sleep timer for 8 hours. So it almost lasts a full work day....

I would like to know whether anyone has successfully used this scanner with Windows 11 without the problems reported here. It isn’t as if the scanner is old - I have had mine from new for about 18 months.

Hi Xcurtx, sorry for the late reply. I had to do it every time it failed to work.

After doing the said method a few times, it started becoming unreliable and is no longer a steady go to workaround.

I will try out the method of stopping the 'services.msc' workaround you posted. Thank you

Oh wow!

Restarting the WIA process works every time. Thank you my man for that!!!

yeah sadly this method can not be used in a active directory envoriment. As stopping said WIA services requires elevated rights, which not all users have.
