My HP Scanjet Pro 2000s1 says "Unable to Communicate with the Scanner" when I try to scan after upgrade to Windows 11.  I installed the latest driver from HP (Feb 2022 driver) and the scanner worked until it went to sleep, or I shut off my computer, or I turned off the scanner.  Then I got the error message. The only solution I found is to reinstall the driver every time I want to scan something. This is not a solution I can work with.  To make things worse, I have a Samsung C46Fw Multifunction printer/scanner. The scanner on this machine has the same problem. I went to find a new driver and was sent to the HP website. Apparently, HP also provides the drivers for Samsung scanners? So now I have two scanners and neither work with Windows 11.     

HP, When are you going to put out a fix for this?

The HP software must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system.

First download only this complete package: "HP ScanJet Pro 2000 s1 Full Feature Software and Driver ",

  • Version: 41.5.2406
  • Operating Systems: Windows 11
  • Release date: Feb 18, 2022

File name: Full_Webpack-41.5.2406-SJ2000_U_Full_Webpack.exe (313.3 MB) takes time!

 

Be sure to read this info: Uninstall and then reinstall the HP ScanJet drivers and tools (Windows) but this is not a complete deinstallation!

 

Then proceed as follows:

Check the system for

  • TuneUp`s
  • Optimization Tools
  • Cleanup Tools

disable them, better uninstall them.

Next...

  1. Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Remove the USB - Do not switch off the printer/scanner >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
  2. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Programs and Features"
    uninstall all HP printer/scanner software > via "Programs and Features"
  3. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Devices and Printers"
    In the "Devices and Printers" window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  4. Restart the PC, must be
  5. Close all programs
  6. Change File-Explorer-Settings:View > Options > "Change folder and search options" > Tab "View"
    • enable > Show hidden files, folders and drives
    • uncheck > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    OK
  7. search for "HP [printer/scanner name]" and delete all this folders
  8. Empty the TEMP folders
    A) C:\Users\[Your user account]\AppData\Local\Temp\
    B) C:\Windows\Temp\
  9. system files cannot be deleted!
  10. Reconnect the printer/scanner to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
  11. Restart the PC, must be
  12. Close all programs
  13. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the Full_Webpack-41.5.2406-SJ2000_U_Full_Webpack.exe
  14. Do not connect the USB cable until the software prompts you to do so!
  15. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  16. Restart the PC again
  17. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

Important information:

    Change back the File Explorer settings -
    • enable > Don`t show hidden files, folders or drives
    • click button > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    OK

This did not help. Calling support again. This is really frustrating that they have not given us a driver that can work with Windows 11. I have a Samsung Printer scanner and and HP Scanjet 2000s1 and neither can work with Windows 11.
