I have done all the steps in the other threads about his issue and it seems like none of them are working and that nobody has any options.
So far I have done many power cycles
drivers
Diag tool can't find my printer
the printer says ready up until the point that I want to scan something then it becomes "Scanner not found"
It prints just fine. just can't scan.

Hi @nisthevision,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer. Since you've already tried power cycling, updating drivers, and using diagnostic tools without success, let's go through a few additional troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the scanner issue.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Check Connection:
- Ensure your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
- If using Wi-Fi, make sure both the printer and computer are on the same network.
Update HP Software:
- Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your printer model and download the latest drivers and full feature software.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- This tool can automatically diagnose and fix scanning issues.
Check Windows Services (for Windows users):
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Locate the service named Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
- Ensure the service is running. If not, right-click and select Start. If it is running, right-click and select Restart.
Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software to see if it is blocking the scanner function.
- If the scanner works after disabling the firewall/antivirus, configure it to allow HP scanning software.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Uninstall the printer from your computer.
- Reinstall it using the latest drivers from the HP website.
Check for Scanner Lock:
- Ensure the scanner lock switch is not engaged (if your model has one). This is usually a physical switch located under the scanner lid or on the underside of the scanner unit.
Use HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app for Windows, Mac, or mobile devices.
- The app can help with scanning and might bypass the issue you’re encountering with the traditional scanning method.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Sometimes firmware updates can resolve hardware issues. Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
