I have been successfully using my HP Envy 7640 for printing and scanning for a few years now using the HP Smart app, easily switching back and forth between document feeder and glass scanning.  Suddenly, documents that are fed through the document feeder are not being scanned - they come up blank even though the app says it was successfully scanned.  When I use the glass, all it good.  But I need to be able to scan multiple pages.  I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer and driver software and the document feeder scan function still doesn't work.

Well it looks like I'm not alone at least.  Any HP experts out there with an actual solution??  Or maybe it is a glitch that will be fixed with the next HP Smart update??

I am having the same issue.  I have tried everything .. I Even unistalled everything. Very frustrating.

Same for me 7640  - working fine with feeder, now its not.  Blank pages.  Scan to glass works fine and the document feeder works fine using the native windows fax and scan app.  Looks like  the App  took an update today but still nothing ver 129.1.234.0

I found this in a link from the HP Solution Center and IT WORKED!!

 

Adobe has permanently disabled the Flash Player as of 12-Jan-2021, and as the HP Solution center software is based on Flash, it may not work as expected. 

 

Here are two other compatible scanning apps, which can be used to scan your photo or document:

HP Scan Extended: You can Download-Save-Install HP Scan Extended - this chat room doesn't allow HTMLs so just search for it on line or go to the HP Solution Center.

Or--

  1. HP Scan and Capture: You can download and Install HP Scan and Capture app from Microsoft store. Here is the link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store

NOTE: You must have the HP printer driver software installed on the computer to use these apps. If you did not uninstall HP Printer driver software, then you should have it already.

 

OPTIONAL: Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

  • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
  • Right-Click exe > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

 

HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary).  May include OCR (Save as Editable Text).

I see I now how HP Smart Version 130.1.323.0 and still have the same issue I reported on 7-20-2021.
