Hello, I am also having the same issue. Everytime I try to scan or copy, it gives me that exact same colored streaks. I have followed all advice posted (cleaning the ADF rollers and separation pads, unplugging/plugging the cord, cleaning the white area of the lid and glass, and updating drivers and firmware) and none of them worked. I have a HP officejet5740 and everytime I run the HP print and scan doctor, it detects everything is updated (all have green checks next to them) and when I start to run a test scan, a  HP Scan message pops up that says "The HP Officejet 5740 was not found." Please help!

Appreciate you trying the steps suggested in the previous post. I'm afraid this would confirm a hardware problem and the printer needs to be repaired.
