Scanner quit scanning!

I've successfully used this all-in-one for several years with no problem.  They all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago, it would not scan when using the HP scan app on my computer. When I click it, the paper feed on the HP unit feeds in the paper, but no scanning is accomplished. The open window on the computer screen reads "preparing to scan."  I tried scanning to a second HP computer on the network and get the same result.  Methinks this might have something to do with the Apple switch to the Catalina operating system. So, I reloaded my HP scanner driver with the same results.  BTW, the printer does print and copy.  Help!!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the scanning issue. 

To better assist you -

1) Are you using HP Easy Scan or Apple Image Capture for scanning? 

2) What's the operating system installed on the 2nd HP computer?

If you are trying to scan using the HP Easy Scan, I'm afraid the HP Easy Scan is currently not fully compatible with macOS Catalina and we'd suggest you use the image capture. We're actively working to restore complete functionality. You may refer to this document for more information - - HP Printers - HP Easy Scan Is Not Currently Supported in macOS Catalina

Also, try scanning using the HP Smart app - HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac)
