HP OfficeJet 6962 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

HP Easy Scan will not allow me to scan. My printer recently lost Wifi, after a router reboot, it's been reconnected but I could no longer scan anything with HP Easy Scan. Downloaded latest driver. All software up to date, including the newest version of HP Easy Scan. I continue receiving the following error:

Scanner reported an error. The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.imagecapture error 4294967249.)

I've turned the HP device off to check if it's a connection error, but my Mac knows when the HP machine is turned off. I only receive this error when it's turned on.

I'm using a MacBook Air with MacOS Monterey 12.7.2.

I've noticed similar reports on the HP Community pages since November. Not many responses or help.

Hi @whatmarmar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with scanning on your HP OfficeJet 6962 after a Wi-Fi disruption. The error message you provided is related to the Apple Image Capture framework, which is commonly used by scanning applications on macOS.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Restart Your Mac:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your MacBook Air and try scanning again.

Reset the Printing System:

  • Go to "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Select "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or control-click) on the list of printers on the left side and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Re-add your HP OfficeJet 6962 and try scanning.

Check HP Easy Scan Preferences:

  • Open HP Easy Scan.
  • Go to the "Settings" or "Preferences" menu.
  • Ensure that the correct printer is selected and that the connection method is set to Wi-Fi.

Update HP Easy Scan:

  • Make sure you have the latest version of HP Easy Scan installed. Visit the HP website or the App Store to check for updates.

Reinstall HP Easy Scan:

  • Uninstall HP Easy Scan and then reinstall it. This can resolve any corrupted installation issues.
  • To uninstall, drag the HP Easy Scan app to the Trash and then empty the Trash.
  • Download the latest version of HP Easy Scan from the official HP website and install it.

Check Firewall and Security Software:

  • Sometimes, security software or firewalls can interfere with scanning. Temporarily disable any firewall or security software and see if the issue persists.

Check Scanner Connection:

  • Make sure your HP OfficeJet 6962 is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your MacBook Air.
  • Verify that the printer is online and accessible from your Mac.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings and perform a network reset. Consult your printer's manual for instructions.

Check for macOS Updates:

  • Ensure that your MacBook Air has the latest macOS updates installed. Apple frequently releases updates that include improvements and bug fixes.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the scanning issue with your HP Officejet 6962 and MacBook Air.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
