I am usually not around the printer in the mornings but at least 2 times this week I have noticed that the printer becomes "activated" (ie:  makes a sound).  Since I did not request a print or scan, I went over to the printer and looked at the print window/screen and saw that it was scanning and then reported a "Scanning complete" message.  

 

Is this something being done remotely because I have connected this with HP ?

HP ENVY Photo 7100 series....

I am assuming that the scan is sending information to HP (ink levels, etc.)... if that is NOT the case,  I am worried about the potential of this activity being the result of malware...
