I am looking for some Windows 10 software that supports transparency scanning with the HP ScanJet 4890. Like so many other users, I am rather tired of HP's lack of support for later Windows versions, which forces so many perfectly good scanners and printers into landfill. It's corporate bastardry and environmentally irresponsible. I would be very happy to pay HP for an upgraded driver (at a fair and reasonable price), than be forced to buy a new scanner.

Hi,
The HP Scanjet 4890 scanner is not supported on Windows 10:

The only software I aware of to support your scanner is Vuescan, but I afraid it does not support transparency scans:

You may try installing the Windows Vista 64-bit drivers using compatibility Mode and check if the HP Scan software or the 3rd party Vuescan software may now offer transparencies scanning.
If you try scanning with Vuescan, be sure to use VueScan x32 as instructed in their site, check the software documentation for any difficulties.
You may download the Vista 64 software below:

Follow the below steps to install the driver using compatibility mode:

Hope that may help,
Shlomi
