Scanner will not scan from glass...ADF only

I am not able to downgrade my computer.  It says that the last version is too old.  I want to figuratively rip my hair out this is so frustrating.  I am very upset.

I clicked the link in the message above and on that link I found this, which FINALLY WORKED:

To scan using Image Capture:

1. Place the document or photo print side down on the scanner glass, and then close the scanner lid.

If your printer has an automatic document feeder (ADF), use it to scan multiple page documents at one time.

CAUTION:

Do not load photos in the ADF.

1. Open Finder , and then click Go in the top menu bar.
2. Click Applications, and then double-click Image Capture.
3. Click your printer name in the Devices or Shared list.

I see that this issue has gone on at least since the end of October. When will the scanner be compatible with Catalina?

 HP is working with Apple to get HP Easy Scan and Scan to computer back to full functionality as quickly as possible. Refer to the document HP Printers - HP Easy Scan Is Not Currently Supported in macOS Catalina

 I found a work-around that Mac Catalina. To scan from the flatbed, go to: 

System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Select "Scan"  > Then "Open Scanner" - Note, when you first go to Printers & Scanner, Printer is selected by default.

Has there been any progress on this update by chance? 

Would love to be able to scan photos to my computer (MAC) but it doesn't allow me to scan from the glass.

I want to copy a paper that I have in my hand and not use computer, phone etc.  my printer will not scan the paper that is on the glass.
