Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have tried to use the scanner on my deskjet, the first time in months, and get an error message saying that the automatic feed is empty, and consequently it refuses to scan from the bed. I am totally confused. Prints alright and scans if you put something through the scanner feed tray but not from the bed. I wanted to scan passports which obviously won’t go thru. Any suggestions please as we go on holiday soon. If not, I will bin the machine and buy something that works.

Consider

 

HP Easy Scan is not currently supported in Mac OS Catalina.

Please continue to use Image Capture until Easy Scan is fixed by HP.
