Printer / scanner has been working rather flawlessly for the last 1.5 years. There have been no recent changes to the environment.
Starting last week, when scanning using the document feeder, the bottom of the scanned document is distorted.
Rebooting and reinstalling the printer has yielded no improvement. This is an issue when scanning from all computers on our network (all running MacOS High Sierra and above). Is the scanner hardware just failing?
Note: scanning and copying directly from the flatbed scanner glass (i.e. without the document feeder) still works just fine.
Appears to be the same issue as described here:

So...I think we've fixed it! We noticed when scanning through the document feeder that the pages were binding slightly as they passed through. We opened the very top section, cleaned the rollers that feed the pages through, and everything seems good to go now! Eureka!

@cmerydith, Welcome to HP Support Community!
If it is an issue with both scanning and copying, it could be a hardware failure.
Let us try some steps to resolve the issue-
Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
Additionally, follow the steps from the document Resolving Copy Problems.
If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
Hope this helps!
