Hi @CJB395 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw scanner on Windows 11 and receiving an error that the printer cannot be found, you can try the following steps to resolve the problem:

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that your printer is turned on and connected to your computer via USB or over the network. Verify the cables and connections.

Restart Your Devices:

  • Restart both your computer and the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw. This can often resolve communication issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP official website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the official HP website. This tool can automatically diagnose and resolve common printing and scanning problems.

Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Use the built-in Windows troubleshooter for printers and scanners. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Run the troubleshooter for Printers.

Reinstall HP Software:

  • Uninstall the HP software on your computer, restart the system, and then reinstall the latest version from the HP website.

Firewall and Antivirus Software:

  • Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software to check if they are blocking the communication between your computer and the printer.

Check Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected over the network, make sure it has a stable and active connection. You may need to restart your router or check network settings.

HP Scan Application:

  • Consider using the HP Smart app for scanning. It's an alternative application provided by HP that combines printer management and scanning capabilities. You can download it from the Microsoft Store.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 system is up to date with the latest updates. Sometimes, updates may include fixes for compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
