Scanning/Faxing with networked (IP) M1522nf

I can set up this netwoked printer to print only.  Scan and FAX features to not appear when I work through the Add Printer/Scanner sequence in System Perferences.  It is  as if the setup does not recognize the M15522nf as a multifunction device. I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware.  I have also downloaded the lastest drivers and HP utilities.  I tried manually adding the device with IPV4 and V6 without sucess; computer cannot locate device, yet I can print to it.  

I have a OfficeJet 6600 (wirelss) that configures as a scanner, printer and FAX without any fuss.

Printing and faxing are supported for your printer on Mojave, scanning is not supported on the operating system

If you are not able to add the fax ensure your Mac is fully up to date and try adding it again as follows:

Click the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

If that doesn't help reboot your Mac end check again.

For scanning, while it is not officially supported by HP, the 3rd party VueScan app should allow scanning with the M1522 printer to a Mac:

can fax from screen on printer..CANNOT FAX FROM HP ON COMPUTER..Used to work before software update of HP.
