We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Previously I was able to complete scans from my printer. Now the HP app only gives me the option to scan from my phone’s camera. How can I scan from my printer and not my phone?

I understand how  it must feel when the app is no longer letting  you scan directly from your printer.  

Could you please share the exact model number of your HP printer?  

Just to confirm:

  • You mentioned the HP app only shows the option to scan from your phone’s camera. Do you see your printer listed at all in the app’s home screen?
  • Were you previously scanning from the same app (HP Smart), and it worked fine until recently?
  • Did you make any recent updates to the app, your phone, or your Wi-Fi network?

Here are a few  steps you can try :

1.Check Printer Connection

The app may default to phone camera if it cannot detect the printer.

Ensure your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone

Restart your printer and phone to refresh connections

2.Verify Printer in HP App

Your printer must be added to the app to enable scanning.

Open HP Smart app → Home screen

Look for your printer listed on the home screen

If missing, tap Add Printer and follow prompts

3.Update HP App

Outdated versions may lose features like printer scanning.

Go to your phone’s app store

Search for HP Smart

Install any available updates

4.Reinstall HP App

Reinstalling can reset permissions and restore printer scanning.

Uninstall the HP Smart app

Restart your phone

Reinstall HP Smart and sign in again

5.Check Printer Drivers (PC Option)

If you also use a computer, drivers may need updating.

Visit https://support.hp.com/  → Drivers & Downloads

Enter your printer model

Download and install the latest drivers
