I configured my Scan Settings for "Source" = Document Feeder but when I click scan the scanner scans a blank document because the document feeder does not feed the documents. I have 20 years worth of military medical documents to scan to submit to the VA, if I'm limited to scanning one document at a time and then have to merge all pages into a single document it will take me days upon days to get the documents into a single .PDF document. Does the HP Officejet 5255 have the ability to scan multiple documents from the document feeder?

Hello @Rick1976 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Try this Solution:
- Install HP Scan Extended find here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/
- Download this file: HPScanExt.msi
- Close all programs
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.
OPTIONAL:
- Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Andreas

Hi,
Please also ensure the hardware functionality by making a copy, does it grab the pages from the feeder?
Ensure you load the paper property and open the top feeder cover.
Generally, you shuld see a paper mark on the feeder itself when its cover is open (if you see an HP Logo at the top, open this top cover).... then click Copy > Document and check if it grabs the paper then.
