Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have a HP Smart Tank Plus 551.  I can scan multiple pages into one PDF when using HP Smart but I cannot figure out how to do it with EWS.  How do I do that?

Thanks.

Brad

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

If your printer EWS supports Webscan,

Webscan can be configured to scan from the glass or -- if supported -- the ADF on the printer

Additional Webscan features depend on the printer model.

Webscan – located in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) – No additional software

This option requires a network connection and EWS

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Webscan feature  is not available on Laser printers

If the printer is on the network,

If the EWS feature is available on your printer,

First Time Use Only:  Enable  Webscan

  • Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
  • Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > Enable >> Check box next to Webscan
  • Click Apply to save any changes

Use Webscan

  • Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
  • Tab Scan > Webscan
  • Set up Webscan the way you want it - for example, set the Source to ADF
  • Click Start Scan to scan your document / image using Webscan
  • After the scan is complete, Save the scan to your computer.

Just realized I have another problem with EWS scan.  When I scan with EWS,  a new tab opens in Chrome browser and displays the document I have scanned.  I can print it fine.  However, if I click the Download icon, the download fails.  Says "failed - network error".

So two issues with EWS scanning now.  Can't download and cannot add multiple pages.

Can't help with Chrome browser - I've not used it for a long time.

I'd guess a printer selection or a permission problem.  ??

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I have enabled EWS scan in security settings, I can scan and print an EWS scan fine.   Just cannot download or add pages.

Looks like my Webscan settings are different from yours.  I do not have a Source setting.  See below.

I've noticed it says "User PDF viewer controls to download and print".  Maybe browser need some sort of PDF viewer plugin?

I've tried with Edge, same problem.

Making progress, installed PDF Viewer plugin to Chrome.  Now get this below.  It seems cannot find document stored on printer.
