Officejet Pro 8610
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I have used my 8620 for a number of years, and generally appreciate how it works.

However, when I scan a photo, I must save it to an HP 4GB "lipstick", and then transfer it from the lipstick to my Mac.  How do I save the scan automatically to my computer desktdop or Photos app?

If I scan a number of photos, different sizes, colour and black and white, etc., they appear on my lipstick as one big .jpg file which I must transfer to my Mac, separate the photos, then import as .individual .jpgs to Photos.

Is there not an easier way to do this?  Is there a new update to help?

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you to scan a document and save it directly on your Mac from your HP Officejet 8610 printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

Use HP easy scan app.

  • Download and install the HP Easy Scan app from the App Store.
  • Place the document or photo printed side down on the scanner glass, then close the scanner lid.
  • In HP Easy Scan, select your printer name from the Scanner drop-down menu.
  • Select your scan type from the Presets menu.
  • Click Scan.
  • To save your scans to a folder on the Mac, click Send in the bottom right corner of the window, then click Folder.
  • In the window that displays, click the Where menu to browse to the folder you want to save the file to, then click Save.
  • To view your scan, open the folder in which you saved the scan, then double-click the file.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help,

Please click the "Accept as Solution" button and the "Thumbs Up".

Let me know how you make out.

Cheers.

Thank you for your quick reply, Sandy. It's nice to know you are out there.

Item #7 reads:

  • "In the window that displays, click the Where menu to browse to the folder you want to save the file to, then click Save."

I am hung up on this item.  Where is the "Where Menu" you are referring to?  I can see the photos, and have played around a little with them, but I would like to add them to my Photos app but need to find the "Where" button.

once I know where the scanned photos will be saved, I will date them, edit the, crop them, etc.  But first, I need to know how to save them in my Photos folder.
