I am trying to set up my printer (HP7740) panel with shortcuts to scan directly to certain folders, I.e. if I want receipts to go to a certain folder I can just tap Receipts and it’ll automatically go to the folder I have set up and same with coupons.
I was able to change the default PDF shortcut to go directly to a folder I wanted as well as keep the shortcut on the printer panel through the HP Printer Assistant on the computer. However, if I copy the settings to make another shortcut exactly the same except a different name to a different folder, the shortcut does not appear on my printer panel.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to create a new scan shortcut on your computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
1. Load your original print-side down on the scanner glass or print-side up in the document feeder.
2. Open the HP printer software.
3. In the printer software, click Scan a Document or Photo .
4. Click Create New Scan Shortcut .
5. Enter a descriptive name, choose an existing shortcut on which to base your new shortcut, and then click Create . For example, if you are creating a new shortcut for photos, choose either Save as JPEG or Email as JPEG . This makes available the options for working with graphics when scanning.
6. Change the settings for your new shortcut to meet your needs, and then click the save icon to the right of the shortcut.
NOTE: The initial screen allows you to review and modify basic settings. Click the More link at the top right corner of the Scan dialog to review and modify detailed settings.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

@A_W_P This should, I suggest you try the below steps:
Use HP Solution Center software to set scan options in the printer control panel menu.
-
Search Windows for HP Solution Center, then click HP Solution Center in the list of results.
HP Solution Center opens.
-
Click Settings, click Scan Settings, then select Scan to...Setup.
-
In the Scan to...Setup window, select an available scan shortcut, then click Add to add the shortcut to the Front panel list (Scan to button) window.
-
Click Update the device to add the scan options to the printer control panel.
-
Set up other optional default scan job settings, such as scan shortcuts and preview options.
-
Prompt for settings at the time of scan: Choose a specific Scan Picture or Scan Document scan shortcut each time you scan with HP Solution Center (recommended).
-
Show preview scan: The HP software generates a preview of the scan. This lets you to review the scan quality and make additional edits before the scan is complete (recommended).
-
Prompt for settings when scanning from the control panel: Get a prompt for any changes you want to make to the scan settings before completing the scan job (recommended).
-
Create a new custom scan shortcut: Review the default settings for a selected scan shortcut, change any basic settings as desired, then click Save Shortcut to name and save the shortcut.
-
Try to scan.
If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.

Hello!
I've got the same issue.
Ever since I had to wipe and reinstall windows I've struggled to get the software working.
I removed all the HP software and reinstalled the full software, but for some reason HP Solution Center is missing. I cannot find it anywhere. I managed to find a copy of HP Scan Extended which kind of does what I need, but I am unable to modify any of the scan shortcuts. Furthermore, I've now got too many odd "scan to "options in the printer control panel some of which open Windows Fax and Scan instead of "HP Scan" which is missing from my computer.
Can you help please?
- Find HP Solution Centre
- Find HP Scan
- OR help me get HP Extended Scan to let me amend the control panel scan to options.
Many thanks
Regards
Andrew
